I am reading this book right now, The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. Great book. Anyway, in the book he talks about how humans tend to have a Gap-focus.
"We tend to focus on the gaps between where we are in life and where we want to be, between what we've accomplished and what we could have or want to accomplish, and the gap between who we are and our idealistic version of the person we believe we should be.
The problem with this is that constant Gap-focus can be detrimental to our confidence and self-image, causing us to feel like we don't have enough, haven't accomplished enough, and that we're simply not good enough, or at least, not as good as we should be."
Nowhere is this more true than in our thoughts about our bodies. We take so much for granted. We forget to be grateful for all the amazing things we have done and can do with our bodies. When we change focus to all that we have to be grateful for, we close the gap. Also, when we stop to appreciate all the things we can DO with our bodies instead of focusing on the lack mentality (which, let's face it, tends to be looks centered) we remember that, to quote Beauty Redefined:
"Your reflection does not define your worth."
So what are you grateful for right now?
